Gen Z and Video Podcasts: The Numbers Speak Loudly
We’re excited to share brand-new findings from The State of Video Podcasting 2025, a landmark study by Coleman Insights and Amplifi Media. And let’s just say—if you’re still wondering whether video matters in podcasting, this should settle it:
Only 10% of Gen Z podcast consumers say they never watch video podcasts.
That’s not a trend—it’s a transformation.
But there’s more to the story. While the shift toward video is undeniable, the data also shows nuance. In fact, 41% of Gen Z podcast consumers still lean toward audio-first experiences, reporting they either only or mostly consume podcasts via audio. That compares to 46% in the broader 15–64 demographic.
So yes, video is booming—but audio isn’t going away.
At the same time, the opposite is also true: a stunning 84% of the overall sample engages with video podcasts at some level. Video isn't just a Gen Z phenomenon—it's becoming a defining feature of podcasting for all ages.
This research is based on a robust sample, and we believe it offers the clearest view yet of how Gen Z is reshaping podcast habits.
Jay Nachlis and I will unveil the full study during our Podcast Movement keynote on April 3 in Chicago, where we’ll also dive deeper into how creators are adapting to this fast-evolving, video-forward landscape.
Hope to see you there—this one's going to spark some big conversations.
